As fate would have it, I will be performing a five-minute opening set for Steve Trevino's I Speak Wife Tour, coming to Lubbock this weekend (January 30th) at the Buddy Holly Hall of Performing Arts and Sciences.

During an interview with The RockShow this week, Wes mentioned that I was an aspiring comedian and Trevino immediately offered to have me open his show, leaving me absolutely speechless, and waiting for him to say something like "LMAO! JK SUCKA!"...but no. He did not.

We thought perhaps he was pulling some kind of fun radio stunt and that surely there wouldn't REALLY be room for me to come talk a bunch of mess on stage at that amazing new performance hall. I was prepared for it to have been one big joke, like the rest of my life. But no. It was not.

Several hours and applications of antiperspirant later, his PR person confirmed by email that I was truly invited to come and do a set. Holy crapoly, guys.

I am floored. I am nervous. Balls. Balls. Balls.

I'm so anxious that I stress ate a bunch of weird food last night thinking about my inevitable failure, which led straight to a nightmare that I showed up late in my "paint pants," which are a pair of pants I only wear while I'm working on art projects. They have a HUGE hole in the crotch and up the butt. Excellent.

If I completely flop and ruin the future of my stand-up comedy career, well, that's okay, too. It will make for some amazing morning show content and Wes Nessman will be able to make fun of me for the rest of my pathetic life. Who wouldn't want that?

So if you haven't bought your tickets already, getchu some! You won't want to miss the show. Steve is an absolute riot and will not disappoint. I can't say the same for myself, but whatever happens, will surely be entertaining.

If you can't make it out, be sure you follow him on Facebook or on Trevino's website for updates on where you can see him perform next.
