City of Lubbock Crews Start Two Construction Projects on Monday
Starting Monday, May 10, City of Lubbock work crews will be starting two different construction projects.
The first project is for the construction of a new sewer tap for a residence in an older part of Lubbock. The sewer tap is to be constructed at 1927 Avenue P. City officials estimate the construction to last through Friday, May 14.
Starting Monday, the intersection of 21st Street and Avenue O will be closed, plus a section of Avenue O between 1926 Avenue O to 2104 Avenue O.
Residents on 21st Street, near Avenue O, will have limited access to to their homes during the construction. Drivers in the area of the construction are urged to use 23rd Street and Avenue N as detours for the next week.
The second construction project is for a brand new sewer line, mainly along Salem Avenue north of 34th Street.
The new sewer line's construction will start at 34th and Salem Avenue and go north on Salem to Brownfield Drive, and then continue northeast along Brownfield Drive to Quaker Avenue.
The City of Lubbock notes this construction will result in possible delays, and detours, along Brownfield Drive between Quaker and Salem Avenues, secondly on Salem Avenue between Brownfield Drive and 34th Street, and finally delays on 34th Street near Salem Avenue.
During this construction project drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, if possible.
