Cleaning Your Shopping Cart is WAY More Important Than You Think
Most supermarkets have a little station near the shopping carts that have wipes available for you to clean your cart with before you walk through the store. Do you always use them? I've got to admit that most of the time I just grab the cart and hurry through the store without thinking about what kind of germs might be lurking on the handle. It turns out, it's much more important to wipe down a cart than you might think, especially if you've got kiddos.
A TikTok user shared a video detailing a horrific experience she had after taking her baby grocery shopping with her for the first time. You will not look at a shopping car the same after watching this.
I would be traumatized, too! I NEVER realized that you could actually get Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease from a shopping cart. I'm completely shook, y'all.
One person in the comment section of this video said that her doctor told her you could also get Hepatitis A from a shopping cart. I looked it up to confirm, and the number one way to get Hepatitis A is to get contaminated feces in your mouth. If it was lingering on the handle of the shopping cart you've been pushing through the store, and then you decided to eat a few food samples while you shop, or put your fingers in your mouth for any reason, you could be putting yourself at risk.
Top-notch horror, boys and girls.
Of course, we can't just live in a bubble and avoid grocery shopping. But, you might want to be a little more cautious the next time you go to the store. Cleaning your shopping cart could be the difference between being very sick and being very healthy.
