Let’s be honest—Lubbock can do better for its pets. And maybe, just maybe, your life could use another loyal friend.
It’s tough seeing so many animals in need of adoption. Often, finding the right match is all about timing. Maybe August 9th is your perfect moment.
Why Now Might Be the Right Time to Adopt
The 8th Annual Clear the Shelter Event is coming up at Lubbock Animal Services, and the need is urgent. Last I checked, they were well over capacity and actively seeking foster families. I’d be surprised if much has changed since then.
That means hundreds of animals are waiting for a home—and maybe one of them is meant for you.
Now, if adopting a pet isn’t possible for you, that’s okay. This isn’t a guilt trip. But if you’ve been on the fence or casually thinking about it, now’s the time to take that leap. You might even already have a pet who could use a buddy.
Let’s face it—some of us would take “all the dogs” or “all the cats” if we could. But there are limits, even if your heart (and wallet) say yes. So here’s your chance to make a difference—one animal at a time.

This is more than just an adoption day—it's a community effort to get a handle on Lubbock’s stray animal crisis. Did you know we occasionally have to ship animals to other states because they have more adopters than pets? That could be us—with a little work.

The solution starts with spaying and neutering—and spreading the word. But it also starts with one pet, one home, one heart.
Maybe it’s time.
