Congrats to Private 1st Alexis Willeby
I'm not even going to pretend that I don't know this young lady. I very much know her, and I bet the only people more proud of her than me is her own family.
We regularly feature military members from West Texas when provided info by the military. In this case, the info showed up right at our front door.
Alexis Willeby was a Nightmare On 19th Street kid, and now she's going to be a nightmare to enemies of the U.S. and help keep aircraft running for our troops.
Here's the official lowdown:
Private 1st Alexis Willeby of Lubbock graduated from Basic Infantry Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri on October 4, 2018. During the ten weeks of training, she received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included the development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing the use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
After Basic training she was assigned to AH-64 Attack Helicopter Repairer (MOS 15R) Training where she spent 20 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Eustis, Virginia, graduating on March 1, 2019. While there she was trained in inspection and repair of aircraft engines and equipment remove and install various parts of the Apache, including engines, rotors, gearboxes, transmissions, mechanical flight controls, and related components and prepare the helicopter for inspection and maintenance checks and assist with those inspections, trained to use special tools to help troubleshoot the aircraft's subsystems and keep maintenance records. Pvt.1st Willeby graduated from Premier High School, Lubbock Tx in 2018 and is the Daughter of Tina and Jarrod Hall of Lubbock and Thomas and Melanie Willeby of Iowa Park, Texas
Our congratulations to Alexis. It's an honor to know you.
