Covenant NW Lubbock Back to School Bash Has Free Vaccines & More
Lubbock's Covenant Norwest Clinic (611 N. Frankfort Ave) is hosting their first ever back-to-school bash on Saturday, August 6th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The bash is a "one stop shop" for children's back to school medical requirements, such as vaccines and sports physicals. Children with private insurance or Medicaid can receive their vaccines free, while self-pay vaccines are $5 each. Sports physicals are $35. While this pricing will make the process easier for parents, Covenant Northwest has plenty planned to make what could be a scary encounter much more relaxed and fun.
Children will be able to explore first responder vehicles, play on obstacle courses, play games, participate in contests and win prizes. Their will also be face painting, balloon animals and safety exercises. Children will learn about safety tips, nutrition and dental health as well. Food trucks will be on site for the whole family.
Participants are encouraged to bring a donation to the South Plains Food Bank, which is currently in particular need of boxed cereals and peanut butter. Other great items to donate included canned soup, fruit, vegetables, and beans, along with whole grain pasta and brown rice. Shelf stable milk and cooking oils are also excellent donations. For a deeper dive on what and what not to donate to food banks, head over to Feeding America's website.
Covenant Northwest Clinic provides family health and urgent care to families in Northwest Lubbock and the surrounding area, and accepts walk-ins seven days a week. For more information, call 806-725-5480.
