Dial Down the Inferno: Lubbock's Cool, Tech Basketball Is Hot

Texas Tech takes on Arkansas tonight in a Sweet 16 matchup. This could get crazy.

Texas Tech Fans Are Passionate

I certainly hope we've learned our manners and realize that we're not quite there yet. Six years ago, after a Final Four win, Tech fans lit Lime Scooters on fire and turned a car over. It seemed to be a bit of an over-reaction, and one of those things that tend to happen "somewhere else" (Except for the part about someone playing "Old Town Road" with a boom box, that was 100% Lubbock right there).

The Big Game

So here we sit counting the hours to tonight's matchup. A win over Arkansas would put us into the final four. USA Today put together a panel of experts and they called the winner of the game 50/50. Going into a game of this importance with an even chance of winning is a pretty big deal.

The Plans

So, what are we doing if Tech wins? Again, this would just put Tech into the Final Four, and it's probably too soon for any type of celebration. It might be best, and might be better luck, if you believe in such things, to just clap loudly and then sit on your hands until the next game.

The Celebration

We don't get a heck of a lot of excitement here, outside of a new restaurant being built, so it's understandable that people get a little confused as to how to act. Just in case this hot streak for Tech continues, let's plan on welcoming them back home after a great run. If they do take the National Championship, then I think I'm fairly certain that the City Of Lubbock will step up with some kind of victory parade.
