Music Education Is Extremely Important

Music education is important for kids. It's been shown to boost memory, improve language skills, and kids who get a musical education perform better in school. But Its Expensive

Beyond lessons, many times kids have to help pay for instruments and other equipment, too. I remember having to ask my parents for all kinds of random costs associated with music- from deposits for choir dresses to competition fees, books of sheet music, and plenty more.

So how do we even the playing field so that every Lubbock child who's interested in music gets a fair shot at it? One thing we can do is help Dirt City Music reach its endowment amount, which is absolutely within striking distance.

Dirt City Music Endowment Fund

From their fundraising page:

Dirt City Music Association is making a push to fully fund our scholarship endowment with the School of Music at Texas Tech University. One of our original goals was to be able to generate funding for future music educators. By creating an endowment fund with TTU, we are building a legacy of support for young local musicians. An endowment is a lasting gift that lives as long as the university operates. A gift of this magnitude is generational, and students will benefit from this fund for decades to come.

Thanks to Lubbock showing up in a BIG way at Rock For Kids, Dirt City Music is at 90% of their endowment! Meaning they are wihtin $1000 of launching the initiative. If a few folks find it in their hearts to donate a little, it will add up to a lot. To make a donation, head here. And thank you so much for supporting music education!
