I don’t know who needs to hear this, but the Dirty Dr Pepper from Sonic is not just a drink. It’s a lifestyle choice I made very recently, and now I fear there’s no going back.

If you haven’t tried it yet, let me save you: Dr Pepper, coconut, lime. That’s it. That’s the tweet. But somehow, it tastes like someone unlocked a secret menu item that was never meant for the general public. It’s smooth, a little tropical, and a little chaotic, kind of like Lubbock on a Friday night.

The first sip is confusing. You’re like, wait…is this allowed? Dr Pepper isn’t supposed to taste like a beach vacation. And yet here we are. By the third sip, you’re emotionally invested. By the end of the cup, you’re already planning your next one like it’s a reward for surviving the day.

What makes it dangerous is how easy it is to justify. “It’s just a soda.” No. It’s not. It’s a little treat. It’s a pick-me-up. It’s something you convince yourself you deserve after doing literally anything...running errands, answering emails, existing in West Texas.

Whatever it is, you probably need one...bad...right now.

And let’s be honest, pulling into Sonic hits different when you know what you’re about to order. There’s confidence. There’s purpose. You’re not scrolling the menu anymore like some rookie. You know. You’ve changed.

Lubbock runs on a lot of things...routine, stubbornness, and maybe a little delusion. But right now? At least for me, it’s running on Dirty Dr Pepper.

Can't stop. Straight up addicted to the shindig, y'all.

And I’m not even sorry about it.
