Texas Versus California

I have a unique perspective on this. Although I've been a Texas resident for over 40 years, I was born in California and make frequent visits to relatives there. California is car crazy, and I mean nutty. Not only is it a have for classic cars, the people there keep thier cars impeccably clean (or they don't get them dirty?). If you're a fan of cars, hot rods, low-riders, or any kind of custom vehicle, then California has the hookup.

Texas Tools!

Here in Texas we have our share of custom car enthusiasts, we also have a ton of shade tree mechanics. I would say that wrenchin' a car makes you just as much of an enthusiast as someone who does bodywork on a classic. It's all automotive, and therefor it can all be defined as "car culture".

Why Texas Rules

So what makes Texas a "Car Lover's Paradise"? That would be the number of Auto Parts Stores. Texas has more auto parts stores than any other state in the Union (over 2100). It kind of makes sense too, as we have a lot of space in Texas, so it probably takes all of these auto parts stores to give enthusiasts close proximately to a part supply. I am NOT an enthusiast, I only do minor jobs like headlamps, and I live near a HUGE warehouse and I can't tell you how awesome that is. For you "car guys' that must be just like heaven.
