Evie Mae’s Is Taking a Break for ‘Mental Health’ the Week of July 22
Evie Mae's Barbecue has announced on their Facebook page that they will be taking the week of July 22nd off for a "mental health break."
From the renowned BBQ joint:
We are taking a Mental Health Break the week of Wednesday, July 22nd through Saturday, July 25th. Reopening Wednesday, July 29th.
We haven’t closed for a week in several years, mostly because we have an incredible crew that keeps everything running and we never “need” to close. The last 4 months have really taken their toll on us as a business. Our crew deserves a break and we think this might be the only chance before back to school and the Holidays sneak up on us. Thanks for understanding that we need a few days to look forward to. We need some time with our families without stressing about viruses and food safety and homeschooling and beef prices and keeping ourselves and staff safe and employed.
Thank you for being so supportive and encouraging the last few months. We appreciate y’all so much.
I think this an important and beautiful idea. Even those of us with wildly successful and critically acclaimed restaurants need breaks to recoup, recenter and realign.
In a world caught in the uncertainty and fear of a global pandemic, it's of vital importance that we normalize mental health care and seeking help, even if it's just a week-long break.
