If you haven't heard, Texas is going to be one of the best places to see this Saturday eclipse.

It would be great to build yourself a little eclipse viewer or have some eclipse glasses sent to town, but you may not have the time or the wherewithal to do that. If that is the case, we have an EXCELLENT suggestion for you from one of our listeners.

We were alerted on our Facebook Page that the Texas Tech University Department Of Physics & Astronomy will actually be having a viewing event.  Viewing this event with pros who can actually answer questions and help you understand what is going on would be a great way to spend the morning.

The event is called, "Experiencing The Eclipse" and it will be this Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and it will take place at the YWCA of Lubbock at 6501 University Avenue. It is their intent to pass along free solar glasses (while supplies last of course). This could be an amazing morning to spend with your kids that may inspire them for a lifetime. What a great way to get your kids interested in some natural science.

In addition to the glasses, they will also have telescopes, demos, and public talk. You may not believe this but I was a child long ago. When I was a kid we visited many events like this, the Treasures Of King Tut, and others. These things have stuck with me my entire life and may have a bigger impact on your kid's direction and curiosity than you will ever imagine. Give it a shot, you'll thank me later! You can check out the event invite here. If you'd just like to know more about the eclipse itself, check that out here.
