Lubbock TXU Customers Cautiously Await First Bill
The power shakeup in Lubbock goes on.
What To Expect
In case you're wondering how the new electric bills work, there are two things you need to know, number one, your electric bill is for the amount of electricity from the provider along with the line charges from Lubbock Power and Light. That is not all though. You now will, and probably already have, received a bill from City Of Lubbock Utilities that takes care of your water and garbage. So, if you open one, don't get too excited about that number, because the total of the two bills is what you used to get as one LP&L bill.
Let's Get To It.
On the second of the month, TXU sent out an email saying they were working with Lubbock Power and Light to finalize the first bill. Seeing as this may be the first correspondence from the company, it may have errantly gone to your junk folder. The email goes onto say that customers will have the same amount of time to pay their bill and an even longer grace period. The company also listed a helpline for those people who are concerned.

The New Normal
The combined total of the two bills is likely higher than what you were paying, unless you've changed the way you use electricity. It seems that having a cheaper LP&L bill was a result of some corners being cut, making it harder to find help with solutions when there was a problem. Then again, I am only spit-balling here, as I personally found LP&L helpful on the few occasions I had to deal with them. The long and short of it, for right now the competiton may not save you money, but it may save you some headaches.
