I am a bit incredulous with a new study putting Lubbock at 67 in terms of "Livability".

Do these people know that all the swimming pools were shut down? Do they realize our crime rate is insane? Do they realize there's an old out-of-control-air personality who complains about all of this?

Truth be told, Lubbock is a pretty great place to live, but probably for reasons other than the ones quoted in the survey. I also threw up in my mouth when the head of the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance was quoted as saying the City made an effort to invest in things important to the younger generation.  Again, the swimming pools are gone, the amusement park has been parted out and is gone, and I sure wouldn't use the "bike lanes" that we added in town for fear of being run over.

The Livability study doesn't appear to be perfectly square either, talking about "the newly build Buddy Holly Center". The Buddy Holly Center opened in 1999. They may have mixed it up with the Buddy Holly Hall where all the concerts are happening, but they did link to the 1999 museum. Heck, the top of description is listed Lubbock as having "plenty of playtime perks" and if there's one thing everybody knows, Lubbock may be a great place to live, but it is boring as hell, ranking at one time as "The Most Boring City In America".

I'll say it again, I very much love Lubbock for every different reasons, but this kind of schmoozy gaslighting is absolutely ridiculous and it keeps us from effecting real change around here. Open a pool for the kids, dang it.
