It's a subtle change, but maybe you've noticed something special about our Facebook cover this month.

May is Lupus Awareness Month, it is usually recognized with a purple ribbon. We began sneaking the purple ribbon into our logo a few years back in honor of one of our favorite listeners. Since that time we've met many more listeners and even family members who are suffering from Lupus.

Lupus is an autoimmune disease in which the bodies immune system mistaking attacks healthy parts of the body. Systems vary from individual to individual but swollen joints, rashes, fatigue and more are often present. What makes Lupus especially scary is that it's frequently misdiagnosed as something else. Women are nine times as likely as men to suffer from Lupus. There is no permanent cure for his disease.

There is a Facebook support group for Lubbock Lupus sufferers.  From the Purple Spot to the Purple RIbbon, we want those suffering from this terrible disease to know we've got your back. We hope you suffer minimal or no flare-ups and that a cure is found soon.
