Former Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The Texas Tribune reports that Dewhurst was arrested on Tuesday by authorities in Dallas and is facing a misdemeanor charge of family violence.

Dewhurst solidified his name in Republican politics while serving as Lt. Gov. of Texas from 2003 to 2015. But while running for the Senate in 2012, he lost to current Texas Senator and newcomer Ted Cruz. A few years later, he would lose his Lt. Gov. seat to current Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.

Dewhurt's hectic personal life has made headlines before. In 2020, his girlfriend at the time, 40-year-old Leslie Ann Caron, was arrested twice and accused of assaulting Dewhurts at the home they shared.

According to one report, Dewhurst and Caron got into a heated argument that escalated until Caron "kicked Dewhurst in the chest." It was also reported that she left bite and scratch marks on him as well.

She was arrested and charged with Abuse of the Elderly and afterwards was ordered by a judge to stay away from Dewhurst. In statement, Dewhurst said he wouldn't press charges, and even called Caron, "a remarkable woman."

This time around, Dewhurst was the one arrested on Tuesday, April 13, 2021. The Texas Tribune reports that police were called to an altercation at Dallas Love Field Airport that involved Dewhurst and a potential family member, as he was subsequently charged with Family Violence.

Dewhurst managed to post bond on Wednesday in the amount of $1000 and was released from custody at the Dallas County Sheriff's Office. The incident is still under investigation, and the other person involved in the alleged altercation has not yet been publicly identified.
