Get Ready for Texas Tech Football – It All Starts Tomorrow!
Things are heating up for the Red Raiders!
First Quarter
Wednesday, July 30th if the first official day of camp for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Expectations are high for the team coming off another big bowl win. The team under coach Joey McGuire went 8-5 in 2022 and 7-6 in 2023. Even though the team was down on wins in the regular season, the victory in the Independence Bowl in '23 just felt bigger than the 2022 win in the Texas Bowl.
Second Quarter
So what can we expect in 2024? You'll find no "in-depth analysis" here, just some insight from one of the hometown folk. Let's just say that talent isn't really a problem for the Red Raiders it's usually depth that causes some problems. In other words, if Texas Tech stays healthy they are always a force to be reckoned with, but Lubbock doesn't seem to offer much to those who aren't in the immediate spotlight.
Third Quarter
The pageantry and excitement of Texas Tech football is contagious. Getting behind the Red Raiders is something that most of us can share in and that's a good thing. Everyone tends to be friends on game day, especially if they're tailgating. Of course, wins make it even more for everyone.
Fourth Quarter
It's going to be an interesting year. Tech fans are nice enough to head coaches for a couple of years, but this third year with McGuire will probably have at least a little do-or-die to it. Those who help fund Texas Tech football never seem to recognize that any head coach can only do so much with the talent available. It may be way premature to even address any of this, but as a long-term resident, I can tell you it's coming. Here's hoping the Red Raiders will keeping adding "W's" to their record and to a positive, injury free season.
