Yup, let's step into this fray all over again.

What Happened?

While two million Texans had no power, the Texas Governor was on a privately funded economic development trip to Taiwan. I'm not sure why it had to be privately funded, and at any other time it sounds like a pretty darn good deal, but with Texas about to be hit, and being hit by a hurricane, it was some poor timing.

The Critics

I attempted to point out the Governor's poor timing and received quite a bit of pushback, most in the form of snarky questions like, "What's he supposed to do, grab a broom and a mop?". The answer to that question is, he's supposed to do Governor things, like he is doing now.

Action, Now!

Abbott is now demanding answers on why people are still without electricity and why the power company wasn't better prepared for this storm. He's holding people's feet to the fire and I certainly applaud him for fighting for Texans. This does not get him off the hook for not coming back to Texas sooner and putting these people on blast. Disaster response is an absolute crucial part of being a leader.

Where We're At

Better late than never is certainly true, be we have to remember that 10% of the customers of this power company are STILL without power. The people around that area are still dealing with temperatures in the low 90's for at least today and tomorrow before they hopefully get a little relief in the form of rain. Until that time, I hope the Governor will keep doing, "Governor Things".
