Okay, I'll play.

It doesn't seem like there's a day that goes by where someone says, "we need" a certain restaurant. I'll admit that I get a little tired of it. I too think we should enjoy what we have. You'd be surprised how many people WISH they had a Taco Villa, Whataburger, or Wienerschnitzel (do you realize only ten states have Wienerworld?). I do count those three among my favorites too, but we're just "wishing" here, right?

I'm disappointed two of my favorite places couldn't make it in the Hub. I genuinely love Jack-In-The-Box and Carl's Junior. They still aren't my choice for a new place in Lubbock, because that honor would go to Del Taco.

Now let me start by saying that Del Taco is not the same as Taco Villa or Taco Bell. The easiest way to explain it may be to think about the differences between Taco Villa and Taco Bell then times it by maybe twenty or so. It's different enough that you could have Taco Villa on a Tuesday and Del Taco on a Wednesday and not feel all taco-ed out.

Del Taco gets a little wilder with their menus and also feature burgers and chicken. Right now (and this is what brought this to mind) they're doing Crispy Shrimp Tacos and Quesadillas. I'm looking through the rest of the menu and even though I just ate, I am DYING over here!

I get out to the West Coast about every other year. I have my choice of the finest restaurants in the world, fresh-caught fish from the Pacific Ocean, authentic sushi and dishes from every nationality possible, but the ONE place I make sure I go is Del Taco. Yes, in between all of those highfalutin places, I always squeeze in one trip to Del Taco.

I hope to have a little Del Taco this summer, let me know if you want me to bring you something back.
