Homeless Brawl On The Way To Tent City

Lubbock Online is reporting that one man is in critical condition and the other is in jail after a fight last night.  It's the details that bother me.

Check out this quote from the A.J. :

Sgt. Jonathan Stewart said the two men were walking to Tent City, a gathering of homeless people living in tents at 1300 Ave. A, from a nearby bar when they got into an altercation.

Are you friggin' kidding me!  Free land, free tents and now some 'free' hospitalization (you know the bill will never be paid), but they had the money to go to a bar!  Not just a liquor store, but a bar!  This is the kind of behavior that "Tent City" enables.  I guess they didn't need the money for food since some city members held a community-wide picnic.

There has got to be a better way to handle the homeless population.
