Hurricane Harvey: Pictures From Corpus Christi (And Jacqui Neal)
Many of you know and love Jacqui Neal - a bold, dynamic radio personality whose voice was heard all over Lubbock, from KFMX to Lonestar 99.5 to Z102 and Awesome 98 and others. She is a living legend and, I'm super proud to say, my aunt that I love very much.
Texas is a huge state. It's strange to get professional emails from other places in the US asking if "we" are staying dry. In Lubbock, we are hundreds of miles away from the devastation. That being said, I'm not sure I've talked to anyone yet who doesn't have family or friends in Houston, Corpus Christi, Beaumont, etc. I am so incredibly grateful that my friends in Houston, Galveston and Corpus are safe.
Jacqui is safe. I've been low-key stalking her online updates to be sure. If you've been following the news, Corpus bore the brunt of the impact of Hurricane Harvey, but was spared from the massive deluge that Houston is currently suffering.
Jacqui sent the station some pictures, which I want to share with you. In true Jacqui form, she was offered a place to stay more inland, but she declined. Her neighbors brought home a premature baby from the hospital when its NICU closed, and she stayed on to help them.
If you would like to help victims of Hurricane Harvey, the easiest way to do so is by texting HARVEY to 90999 to donate $10 to the Red Cross.
