I recently took a trip and one of the biggest surprises was in our own airport, here in Lubbock.

The Airport Experience

When you fly Southwest, you're going to make stops. This time around I stopped in Austin, Long Beach, and Las Vegas. It's crazy how much the Austin airport has to see. The Long Beach Airport has a real open and sparse vibe. It was also weird to me that my terminal in Las Vegas emptied right out in front of a huge glass room where people were smoking and playing slots. Yes, there were many slot machines throughout the airport, but to still have a designated smoking are seemed pretty surreal.

The Updates

Back here in Lubbock, our airport went through some renovations. I only fly about once a year so sometime in the last year the airport went though some needed updates. Again, there is a sleeker look to it which aids a bit with foot traffic and overall I have to say the whole thing looks really good. I also saw something at our airport that is a most welcome addition.

The Potty

Here you go, the Lubbock International Airport now has a bathroom for dogs! This addition was probably past due, but still completely hilarious. I supposed the only dogs in there should be "service" dogs, but when a dog has to go, it has to go.  The room is even equipped with a red fire hydrant for the dogs to hike up a leg on. There are also pickup bags, and a button to press when your dog is done that somehow flushes the grass area (sorry, I couldn't push it just for the demonstration). Here's a couple of pics for you to check it out:
