Alright, I don't know about 'riveting'...but it's definitely a mystery.

I published an article in early October detailing a bizarre weekly occurrence on 82nd and Quaker across from the radio station. If you didn't get a chance to read it, you can find it here.

So basically...

Someone has been throwing a box out of the window of their car, into the center lane of the street in front of the radio station every single week for at least a year. It could be longer, but it took me a while to recognize that I was seeing the exact same type of box in the exact same location around 4:30 am every Tuesday morning.

I decided that today was the day to go out and get the box and see if perhaps it had an address on it or something. Maybe I'd be able to find out who was behind littering the same object in the exact same location over and over again.

I talked my morning show partner into walking out to the street this morning with me to take a peek at what the hell that stupid box was all about.

You'll never guess what it was...are you ready? I know you guys are on the edge of your seats.

Drumroll, please...

It was an empty box of Tres Leches Cheesecake from Cheesecake Royale Bakery...

The name "Cheesecake Royale Bakery" might not mean much to you, but it's a bakery located in Garland, Texas that distributes cheesecakes to various restaurants through different local brokers, one of which is located here in Lubbock...

According to their website, Bellah & Associates is our local broker for products from Cheesecake Royale Bakery.

So, of course, I did what any reasonable person would do while solving a mystery of this magnitude...and I called Bellah & Associates to see who they distribute products to in Lubbock so that I could narrow down my search even further.

I clearly have way too much time on my hands, but if someone is paying me to write provocative articles about Lubbock, Texas, then by golly, I'll do what I want!

There were several phone numbers listed online, but not a single one took me anywhere. I was met with a "We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service." message on all of them...only adding fuel to my wild desire to find the cheesecake bandit.

Sigh.

I will get to the bottom of this mystery, one way or another. The next step might be to conduct some kind of surveillance of the area next week to see if I can pinpoint the vehicle the box comes flying out of. I've got to figure out who is behind this weekly cheesecake box littering session or I will explode.

My current theory is that someone eats an entire box of cheesecake and then throws out the evidence out of their car before going home to their loved ones and pretending not to know why their diet isn't working...

Do you know who is behind this? I might even offer a reward of some sort if you can help me get to the bottom of this cheesy mystery...
