Travel season is off to a hot start, with AAA reporting record-breaking travel for spring break.

Armbruster says flight bookings are up 20% compared to last year. International travel is also up, with bookings up 37%.

Armbruster says a majority of Texans who want to stay in the Lone Star State will travel to the coast, including Galveston, Corpus Christi and South Padre for a quick getaway that is drivable.

Texas drivers remain one of the luckiest in the country. With gas prices are climbing in other states, Texas still has the lowest average.

The national average is $3.397 and the Texas average is $2.932 as of March 11th, 2024.

The statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.94 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is one cent less than on this day last week and is three cents less per gallon compared to this day last year.
