19-Year-Old Wrong-Way Driver Opens Fire on Southlake PD

Police in Southlake, TX exchanged shots when a wrong-way driver opened fire on nearby passengers and law enforcement. Astonishingly, there were no fatalities.

Southlake PD recently responded to a call of a minivan driving the wrong way down Southlake Boulevard. Officers were dispatched around 9:30 in the morning and noticed multiple vehicles were damaged from a wrong-way driver.

Witnesses eventually saw the damaged minivan off of the road in the grass. When police arrived, the driver, 19-year-old Sean Wallace Jordan, pulled a rifle from his vehicle and opened fire on the officers and other drivers.

In a message from the Southlake Police Chief, the responding officer fired his weapon in defense of himself and the others being shot at. Neither the suspect nor any passers by were shot or injured during the altercation. Sean Jordan was soon taken into custody without further trouble.

NBC DFW spoke with witnesses who described hearing between 10 and 20 gunshots during the event.

Fox 4 Dallas-Fort Worth also supplied surveillance footage from a nearby jewelry store showing two men fleeing as bullets ricochet around their feet.

It is unclear if Jordan was under the influence of any substance during the attack, and he did not have a criminal record prior to being detained.

Jordan is currently being held in Tarrant County with three charges from that day:

• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
• Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant
• Resisting Arrest
