Enjoy Some Funky Beats at the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase

Even though school is almost back in session that doesn't mean the summer is over, for the adults.

Game of Cat and Mouse

This week performing at the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase is the nine-piece funk orchestra band known as Mouse Shadow. This band has all original compositions and arrangements with a twist and in the style of funk, African funk, and jazz which are a unique sound the Hub City music scene. This band is made up of Texas Tech and South Plains College grads and students that bring some very smooth and upbeat sounds to the stage.

Bring on the Funk

Like always I had to give this band a listen to see where it would transport me mentally and it was somewhere totally new. The mix of instruments coming together transported me to an oasis at sunset just on the edge where luscious greens meet the harsh sands. Their sound is like a warm hug from a familiar friend that you haven't seen in years, just encapsulating and puts a smile on your face.

The Details

Mouse Shadow will play from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase, located in the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center. Chairs, picnic blankets, pets, outside food and beverages are not allowed but Mi Mesa food truck will be there selling food and drinks.
