
Former Texas Scout Leader Charged with Possession of Indecent Material
A man in Texas was recently arrested after a search warrant revealed child pornography at his house in Magnolia, TX.
The Arrest of Michael Provost
Michael Steven Provost, 56, was identified as the primary suspect and was arrested at the scene. It was then that he was transported to the Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office Jail while further information is discovered.
After officials continued their investigation, they found that Provost had served as scout leader for the Boy Scouts of America for a number of years, in addition to serving as a mentor within the organization.
The Texas Department of Public Safety posted the arrest to social media, stating that they urge anyone in the public to come forward with any relevant information that pertains to the case.
Texas DPS concludes the post by providing contact info for Special Agent Louis Niklas, from the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division, for any tips that citizens may have to aid in the investigation.
Provost received five charges of Possession of Child Pornography following his arrest. Each charge is classified as a third degree felony in the State of Texas.
Bail is set at $50,000 for each charge--totaling $250,000--while he remains held at the Montgomery County Sherriff’s Office Jail.
