A Texas Tech alumni and her veteran father are serving the local community with their family owned pet business. Bernadette Hernandez is the proud owner of Sweet Pup Co. in Lubbock and has been in the business since she was just 12-years-old. Hernandez got her start by making bandanas and dog treats for the Downtown Farmers Market and then moved to the Wolfforth Farmers Market. Bernadette's success hasn't been a solo act as her sister and father have gotten more involved in the business.

Hernandez' father is a disabled army veteran with memory issues and also has dementia. Hernandez' father works in making the treats for dogs so that he can stay busy using his brain and keeping his hands busy while contributing to the business. The dog treats did go through many years of trial and error starting from when Hernandez was 12-years-old but now that her father is contributing he has made his own recipes. These recipes have gone through many hours of research as the duo have made sure to see which ingredients are actually good for dogs as well as taste good too.

Sweet Pup Co. has many of their products in small store fronts around the Lubbock area such as Sugar Browns, Wagbnb, and they also still sell products at the Wolfforth Farmer's Market and Downtown Farmer's Markets. Aside from making bandanas and dog treats Bernadette did state that they also make leashes, collars, harnesses, dog beds and items for cats, rabbits, guinea pigs and even ferrets.

If you are interested in seeing all of Bernadette's merchandise, or her father's dog treats, you can view her online store and Facebook. If you have a custom order request Bernadette also takes orders if you have an idea that you want to commission for your furry friend.
