A man in Plainview pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 10-year-old child in the presence of the child's younger sister. The man was sentenced to 50 years in prison as a result.

How the Abuse Began

Court documents revealed that, in March 2025, a sexual abuse report was made from the legal guardian of a 10-year-old girl known as "Jane Doe." The report claimed that the boyfriend of Doe's biological mother, 44-year-old Leandro Rodriquez, Jr., was engaging in sexual activity with the child.

According to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), it started when Doe, along with her younger sister, was staying overnight with their mother and Rodriquez in Plainview, TX. Doe's legal guardian found messages on the 10-year-old's cell phone instructing her where to meet once the house was empty.

It was around this time that Rodriquez engaged in sexual activity with the 10-year-old who disclosed that he also requested personalized videos of her engaging in sexual acts to send him while he was away.

Doe's younger sister was also interviewed by law enforcement and revealed that the 44-year-old would sexually abuse her older sister while she was in the same room.

Disturbing Footage and Rodriquez's Sentencing

After Rodriquez's cell phone was seized, explicit images of both himself and the 10-year-old were found, as well as a video of the two cuddling on a couch where he was heard saying the two are "happily married," according to the DOJ release.

Rodriquez was charged in May 2025 and pled guilty to enticement of a minor in October. He was recently sentenced by U.S. District Judge James Wesley Hendrix to a total of 50 years in federal prison.
