It's going to be a beautiful weekend in Lubbock and it's a holiday weekend. Add those together and that usually means a lot of people will be taking advantage of all the parks we have in Lubbock.

And while that is great news and the City of Lubbock wants people to gather and have fun at local parks, the City of Lubbock also has one request. Please clean up after yourselves.

Easter weekend is one of the busiest weekends for Lubbock Parks according to a press release from the City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department. This weekend you are likely going to see extra trash cans and even trash bags in city parks to help cut down on trash blowing around. According to the City of Lubbock, Parks and Rec staff and volunteers will be handing out trash bags in some parks.

Parks and Recreation staff will provide park-goers with trash bags in the park. We ask that if you get a bag from us, please tie them up and leave them so Parks and Recreation staff can pick them up on Monday morning. In the past this has been a successful way to keep our parks clean. If you see a City Parks employee, don’t hesitate to ask for a bag.

Enjoy the weekend. Enjoy your Easter Sunday at the park, but please, let's keep our parks looking nice and let others enjoy the parks too.

One other thing the City of Lubbock would ask of those going to parks, don't park on the grass.
