Why Can’t Texans Stick to Their Most Common New Year’s Resolutions?
The yearly tradition has reared its ugly head once more. If you have made any New Year's Resolutions, how long do you think you can keep it up? Or how long have you at least made an effort?...
No matter how long you stick to your resolution, let's see if yours matches the most common in America!
New Year's Resolutions in America
According to a recent study conducted by Statista, 1,050 U.S. adults were asked what their resolutions were. Here were the top responses:
- Save more money - 21%
- Eat healthier - 19%
- Exercise more - 17%
- Lose weight - 15%
- Spend more time with family/friends - 14%
- Quit smoking - 9%
- Reduce living expense costs - 9%
Funny enough, 43% of all respondents stated they are not making a resolution this year.
Texas Take on Resolutions
East Texas News also includes reasons as to why most resolutions fail in the Lone Star State. One of the reasons was that they were attempting the resolution on their own and that they set too high of expectations for themselves.
Other reasons include giving up easily, not enough time or money, no self esteem and forgetting that they set goals in the first place.
The news outlet also says that a contributor to failing resolutions is due to the societal expectation in the heat of the moment. Because they are so mainstream, many people wait for this one time of the year to outwardly express their intentions.
If you are really dedicated to achieving these goals, you shouldn't wait for a festive holiday to do so. Besides, by the end of January, most people have run out of steam on their goals and wait for another 11 months to take it back up again.
