Jimenez Y Friends Receives Raves From Food Network Host
It's always awesome when nice guys finish first.
A New Interview
Our friends at Jimenez y Friends continue to bring notoriety to themselves and in turn the City Of Lubbock. The restaurant has gotten rave reviews and mentions in Texas Monthly and those laurels are snowballing. That kind of attention no doubt put food blogger and Cheap Eats host Ali Khan on the case, and he's pretty darn happy with what they're cooking.
The Episode
The restaurant has earned name checks for both its Mexican food and it's barbeque. In this edition of "Ali Khan Eats" the focus is mainly on the barbeque and pitmaster Michael Jimenez. Khan samples an enormous plate of barbeque, including the trademark Concha/BBQ sandwich that we love so much.
The BBQ Family
It's also really cool that there's talk of the barbeque community in this edition, giving shoutouts to other places that have helped Jimenez elevate their game to this level. It was not so long ago that Lubbock was completely overlooked as a BBQ, or even food destination, but things are slowly picking up steam.
It's Almost Rare
All of this is kind of stunning when you consider that barbeque is still a part-time thing at Jimenez. That's right, if we prematurely got your mouth-watering, but BBQ is usually only available on the weekends. Also, we should mention that Jimenez is for carry-out only, there's no dine in (get chips to snack on for the way home, they're the best too).
