To say the Harlem Globetrotters are "legendary" is a bit of an understatement.

The organization is nearly a century old, and has performed in 124 countries and six territories over six continents. By combining incredible athleticism with engaging performance and signature moves, the Harlem Globetrotters have profoundly influenced modern basketball and have made it popular across the globe.

They've been all over popular culture, with their own animated cartoons in the 1970s, along with appearances in The Simpsons, Futurama, The Amazing Race, American Dad and more.

The Harlem Globetrotters will bring their signature comedy-style exhibition play to Lubbock's United Supermarkets Arena on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 with an updated and exiting show.

From the official press release:

The Spread Game Tour is a basketball event like no other. Ankle-breaking moves, jaw-dropping swag, and rim-rattling dunks are only some of the thrill you can expect from this fully modernized show. Part streetball from the players who defined it, part interactive family entertainment, the new tour will show off the best of the Globetrotters in a dazzling exhibition of talent and game.

The Spread Game Tour introduces new premium fan experiences with unprecedented access and interaction, including celebrity court passes, meet and greets with players, and in select markets, the #SQUADZONE, where fans have the opportunity to feel like part of the show.

Tickets will be available from harlemglobetrotters.com. Fans who sign up on the website to become a "preferred customer" will have exclusive access to a presale offer code.

The Harlem Globetrotters recently made headlines when they wrote a letter to the NBA recalling the lopsided history of the two organizations and demanding respect for the organization that brought street moves into the game of basketball. They wrote:

So, if you really believe what you've been saying about social justice, going back to “normal” needs to look different. You can't just act like we don't exist anymore. It's time to right the wrongs and rewrite history. It's time for the NBA to honor what the Globetrotters have done for OUR sport, both here in the U.S. and around the globe.

The NBA isn't bringing any games to Lubbock, so the Globetrotters certainly have a point about bringing basketball to folks all over the globe.
