Legendary West Texas Saxophonist Bobby Keys Passes Away
There is probably no West Texas artist that played to more people world-wide than Bobby Keys. Bobby was born in 1943 in Slaton, Texas. His biggest claim to fame was playing on albums from and touring with The Rolling Stones. But that was just a small slice of his accomplishments though.
Keys played with Buddy Holly, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Eric Clapton, John Lennon, The Who and more. Keys was born the same day as Keith Richards and apparently was his running buddy during the wild, wild party days.
If you'd like to find out more about Keys, here's his Wikipedia page (there's a story there about him drinking a bathtub full of champagne).
I could go on and on, but if you want to read or hear some funny stories, just Google his name or pull him up on YouTube.
Here's to Slaton's own Bobby Keys!
