So let's say you have a trip to Levelland planned. Where are you going to eat? According to Yelp, there are some pretty solid choices.

The first question we have to get out of the way is: "How do we sort this information?" We could choose the highest rated restaurants, the most recommended spots, or the places with the most Yelp reviews.

We're going with the latter, so don't consider this a ranking from one to five. Think of it more as five great choices that locals and visitors seem to keep coming back to.

Apparently the most visited place in Levelland is Swackhammer's.

This looks to be the definition of down-home country cooking, and it seems to be the default place people head when they're in town and hungry.

Next up is Something Different Grill.

I would call the menu slightly elevated home cooking. For instance, they have items like chili spaghetti and strawberry salad, which gives the place a little more variety than your standard diner fare.

The quirky names continue with I Don't Know Diner.

They are exactly what the name suggests — a diner. Expect comfort food favorites like burgers, chicken fried steak, and other hearty classics Texans tend to crave.

Levelland Does Have Some Variety!

We finally venture a little outside the Southern comfort food zone with Taqueria Guadalajara.

The menu leans Tex-Mex with a stronger Mexican influence, making it a nice change of pace from all the gravy and fried food.

And finally, in our famous five, comes Savannah's Restaurant.

This one appears to fall a bit more into the straight-up Tex-Mex category, which means plenty of familiar favorites and the kind of food that sticks to your ribs.

Have you noticed anything missing? I sure did.

I honestly expected a barbecue place to crack the top five most-reviewed restaurants, and somehow none did. That's okay, Levelland. We're perfectly happy with chicken fried steaks and carne guisada.

So there you go. There doesn't seem to be anything too adventurous here — just good food the way Texans like it. This is perfect stick-to-your-ribs fare, and we're all about it.
