I am passionate about giving blood.

It has given me a bit of peace to focus on the things that mean the most to me. I am dedicated to pet causes and blood donation. Approaching life this way makes it easier to decide where your time, energy, and resources should go. If you have room in your heart to focus on a couple of causes, then I would certainly suggest this approach to you as well.

I am a very regular blood donor. I lost about a year because of a dental implant, and that still drives me nuts, but since 2008, I have donated 62 pints—or 7 3/4 gallons—of blood.

I do it my way: one pint at a time, whole blood every time. I have found what works best for me and my body, so I stick with that plan.

Battle Of The Badges Comes To South Plains Mall

Maybe this weekend will be the start of a lifetime of giving for you. Maybe it will simply be a one-and-done experience. Either way, you have the opportunity to make a real difference in someone’s life.

Now through Sunday, you can donate blood in honor of either the Lubbock Police Department or the Lubbock Fire Department during the Battle of the Badges blood drive at South Plains Mall in Lubbock. Vitalant will be on hand each day from noon until 6 p.m.

Donors will receive a Battle of the Badges T-shirt, two movie tickets, and two popcorn vouchers from Premiere Cinema in South Plains Mall.

This is a great opportunity to step up for your community in a very meaningful way. Giving blood does not require a large commitment, but that one donation can mean everything to the person who needs it.

If you would like some general information on giving blood, you can visit Vitalant here.

It would be really awesome if Lubbock knocked this one out of the park and helped Vitalant rebuild its blood supply. Right now, they are suffering a critical shortage of Type O blood. Pick your badge, roll up your sleeve, and give what you can.
