George Strait Weekend Set to Test Lubbock Traffic and Patience
Two big concerts will stress the Lubbock system this weekend.
George Strait will headline two concerts this weekend in Lubbock, so it should be the equivalent of two football game days. This should be easy, but I really doubt it will be.
We have to keep in mind that a large percentage of people who attended Red Raider Football games do it multiple times so they have an idea of what they are doing. In addition the systems Texas Tech have in place for those games probably don't changed much game to game either.
These concerts will add some unpredictability to the mix. Something as simple as all those trucks for sound, stage, and light production can change a few things, then there are the attendees. I am not disparaging the people who are attending this show, but I'm betting a lot haven't been to a concert in a while, and for others, this may be thier first experience. Let's add to these facts that this crowd will skew older than any other concert of football game. This isn't a slam one seniors and their cognition, it's just that the world has changed a whole lot since many of them got out.

🎤 George Strait Weekend Will Put Lubbock to the Test
Jones Stadium isn't the only place there will be problems either. Many of these people haven't driven our roads, or visited our restaurants and hotels. Even shopping centers will see a boost in new faces this weekend.

All of this is actually very good for Lubbock, and for concerts in general. We just have to remember that we have many new guests this weekend and we need to be patient, keep our heads on straight, and be very forgiving of anything of things that we might consider a trespass against us on a regular weekend. Oh, and if you're not going to the show, you just may want to consider hibernating this weekend until the whole shebang is over.
