Lubbock Health Department Schedules More COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

Texas Health and Human Services has allocated another 5,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to the City of Lubbock this week, which is becoming a growing trend as the vaccine starts to make a notable impact on the number of cases reported statewide.

The City of Lubbock has seen a slow and steady decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations since the last days of December 2020. Lubbock first went below the 15 percent hospitalization threshold on January 26th, and hasn't looked back since.

On Saturday, February 6th, 2021, Lubbock reported another low hospitalization percentage of 7.5 percent, a number not seen since September 28th, 2020. The city also reported a decrease in COVID-19 hospital patients at 120, a number also not seen since September 2020.

The City of Lubbock Health Department will likely have more vaccine doses every week going forward. This week, vaccine clinics will be held at the Lubbock Civic Center on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

The Lubbock Health Department reported that as of Friday, February 5th, more than 25,000 people had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Lubbock County, and 4,200 had received their 2nd dose.

Various CVS pharmacies across Texas will also begin to offer COVID-19 vaccinations as soon as Wednesday, February 10th. It's unknown if and when those vaccinations will be available at CVS locations in Lubbock. To check for updates, visit their website.
