Lubbock Makes Top Three In The Most Dangerous Cities In Texas List
I don't feel like Lubbock is dangerous, but I guess facts are facts.
There really isn't a place in Lubbock that I'm afraid to visit. Folks are folks is pretty much a rule of thumb for me. I say this off the top because some people will try to blame these kinds of stats on certain areas of town, or on a "certain element".
Why Lubbock can't get a grasp on these things that make the town dangerous is beyond me. It sure seems like we have good policing here. It seems like people behave reasonably well with each other. I'm not seeing things "going down" in the stores I shop in or places I visit.
These new stats aren't from some weak poll either; they are from a site called World Population Review but have an excellent source. Here's their source:
To determine the most dangerous cities Texas, the FBI’s data for violent crimes and property crimes were looked at.
Bellmead and Humble keep Lubbock out of the top spot. What's crazy is that even the study says that poverty is a driving force for these high-crime places, but Lubbock doesn't really fit that profile. Apparently, Lubbock is dangerous just because people here don't know how to act right.
This just seems like something we could get a handle on, and why we haven't, I don't know. It's certainly not a list I want to stay on or statistically be a part of. Seriously, we're ahead of Houston (#7) and Amarillo (#9)? I don't know what else to say other than, "be careful out there".
