Lubbock Man Admits to Stabbing Someone Just Weeks After He Got Out of Prison for Murder
A Lubbock man was arrested on Friday, November 12th for stabbing and killing another, just weeks after being released from prison.
Officers were called to the 500 block of Avenue Q a bit before 3 a.m. There, they found 38-year-old Aundra Singletery, who was suffering from a stab wound to the chest.
Later, officers located 55-year-old David Brasfield, who admitted to smoking "speed" before getting paranoid and stabbing Singletery.
Back on Saturday, October 28th 2006, the body of Paul David Shreve was found in an alley the 1700 block of 27th Street. Brasfield was accused of stabbing Shreve multiple times, and would eventually plead guilty to the charges. This was allegedly the 2nd time that Brasfield had attacked Shreve.
Brasfield had also been apparently convicted previously on vehicle burglary and drug possession charges, on top of having a charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon. KAMC News reports that Brasfield told the court back in 2006 that he either previously suffered from or had been treated for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and depression.
Brasfield wouldn't be released from prison until Wednesday, October 27th, around 2 weeks before the stabbing incident occurred.
