Lubbock Man Clings To Hastings Return Box, Cries Out To Heaven For A Miracle
It's been like 84 years or something since Lubbock's favorite business was tragically ripped from our lives. The tears are real, and it's still affecting us. Every time I drive past the haunted old Hastings, I'm flooded with memories and bummed out all over again. I'm not the only one.
Lubbock man, Willie Andrew Mata Najar, posted a funny photo of himself clinging to the faded Hastings rental return box and crying out to the heavens for mercy. Poor guy. I think we can all appreciate the sentiment.
He told me how much Hastings meant to him as a kid:
"We didn't have much growing up, and in a small town, it's hard to get exposure to the world....that was hastings to me. It was a place where my imagination could run wild. My escape from the real world..."
Here's his original Facebook post:
I feel you, man. I spent countless hours in Hastings. I used to go there every morning when I finished working the night shift just to rent a movie to lull myself to sleep.
I wish we could have kept it around forever. It's such a shame. I think I'd honestly give up all of my streaming platforms to have it back. Does that sound crazy? Or was Hastings just THAT awesome?
*sigh*
Hastings, Lubbock will miss you forever and ever and ever. We didn't know what we had until it was too late.
