Lubbock’s Annual Miracles Christmas Parade Is a One-of-a-Kind Tradition [Video]
Lubbock has many Christmas traditions, and this spectacular one helps children all over West Texas.
The annual Miracles Christmas Parade is a two-mile, free Christmas light extravaganza that often brings out tens of thousands of spectators. This year's parade happens Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at 6 p.m. Its theme is 'March of the Toys.'
It's a free community event and family-friendly. This year, Texas Tech's Masked Rider will also be there. Spectators are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to the U.S. Marines along the route for their annual Toys For Tots drive.
Spectators are encouraged to arrive early along the parade route, which stretches two miles starting at 34th Street from Avenue Q to Indiana Avenue. You can bring chairs, your own food and beverages, pretty much whatever will help you and your family stay warm and comfortable.
If you arrive early enough, you can park in merchant's parking lots along the parade route.
You can fill out an application at the official parade website and stay updated on the event by following the official Miracles Christmas Parade Facebook page. The deadline for applications is December 1, 2017 at 6:30 p.m.
