May 9th is Mother's Day, and to celebrate, the Lubbock Animal Shelter Adoption Center (3323 SE Loop 289) is offering free adoptions on all female animals for the month of May, according to a recent Facebook post.
Adoptions are normally a modest $30, which includes the spay or neuter of the animal, vaccinations and a microchip and a voucher to Pets Plus (6419 University Ave).
From the shelter:
All of our animals have received vaccinations, dewormer, and a microchip upon intake.
Every animal of age will receive its rabies vaccination before leaving the shelter.
Spay/Neuter- We have many animals that are already sterilized and ready to go, however if the pet you choose has not been sterilized you will receive a voucher to get the animal spayed or neutered. These vouchers cover the basic surgery and can now be taken to any vet willing to accept these vouchers.
Pets Plus Voucher- with every animal that is adopted we will provide you with a $10 voucher to use at Pets Plus located at 6419 University. For every voucher that is redeemed Pets Plus will donate $10 worth of supplies back to the shelter!
To see the wide variety of dogs, cats and sometimes even other animals, head over to the adoption center any time Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are many loving, deserving animals that are waiting patiently for their new family.
I also recommend following the Lubbock Animal Shelter Adoption Center on Facebook. You can also see some of their animals on Petfinder. You'll be surprised at the diversity of the animals -- from puppies and kitties to seniors, pure breeds to mighty mutts. (I'm a huge fan of the latter, personally.)
