Severe Storms Leave Lubbock Reeling From Hail And Wind Damage
On the night of June 5th, Lubbock, Texas was hammered by strong winds, torrential rain, damaging hail, and possible tornadoes—and we’ve got the pictures to prove it.
Things could have been worse. In fact, they almost were. I’m writing this before any official tornado designations have been released for Lubbock, but it’s clear the situation was serious. At one point, it looked like a tornado was going to wipe out Shallowater. Another looked ready to carve a deadly path straight up 19th Street.
Whether or not these storms are officially labeled as tornadoes, the result was the same: destruction. Lubbock experienced multiple funnel clouds and rotating storms. Let’s not get caught up in semantics—whatever you want to call it, it left a mark on this town. The damage might not be catastrophic, but Lubbock is waking up bruised. Wind and hail have hit homes, vehicles, and property across the area.

Thanks to some generous friends, I was able to gather a few photos from the storm and the aftermath. This is just a small sampling. As the day goes on, more images and stories will surface—and more damage will be uncovered.
To those of you affected, I’m truly sorry. Whether you're dealing with flooding, broken windows, or fallen trees, we know today is going to be rough. You’re probably on the phone with your insurance company, sweeping up debris, and thanking the stars that it wasn’t worse.
Whatever happened to you, happened to all of us—and we’ll be here to help however we can.
