One of the most tragic events in Lubbock history is now being memorialized in song. In January 2020, three local first responders were struck while working a call—two lost their lives at the scene, and a third suffered a traumatic brain injury before ultimately passing away in 2023 due to complications. It’s the kind of heartbreak that doesn’t fade easily, and for many in the community, it still feels close to the surface.

Lubbock Songwriter Turns From Grief To Song

Local singer-songwriter Natalea Sharp has taken that grief and turned it into something meaningful. She wrote and performs “555 Lubbock (A Tribute To Eric, Nicholas, And Matt),” a song dedicated to the fallen responders and the lasting impact of that day. The track is part of a larger EP centered around honoring their memory and keeping awareness alive.
