According to a report from the Texas Workforce Commission, Lubbock’s unemployment rate dropped to 2.3 percent in April.

That’s down from 3.1% in March. The statewide unemployment rate fell to 3%, down from March’s 3.5% and last year’s 3.7% in April of 2018.

The Texas economy saw close to 29,000 non-farming jobs added in April, marking it the 108th consecutive month of employment growth across the state.

Professional and Business Services led all major industries over the month, adding 8,400 jobs. Construction added 5,800 jobs and Education and Health Services grew by 4,300 jobs.
