Nothing beats the richness, depth, and absolute umami flavor bomb that's well-prepared authentic Japanese ramen. And that's what Lubbock's new ramen restaurant, Ken Chan Ramen offers.

Miso, tonkatsu, pork bone, and shoyu broths with a variety of proteins like pork, brisket, shrimp, chicken, and tofu. Not to mention the wide variety of other traditional Japanese ingredients that range from ajitama egg to wood ear mushrooms.

Truly, there's a world of flavors to try with everyone in mind- from the avid carnivore to the vegan who would love to have something in Lubbock that isn't another salad. In addition to ramen, Ken Chan offers rice dishes and a very appetizing array of...appetizers. I'm making myself incredibly hungry.

Ken Chan is celebrating their Grand Opening this Friday (September 1st) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with live music from one of Lubbock's absolute bests- Joy Harris. Additionally, FMX will be on hand with a variety of prizes including concert tickets, Nightmare on 19th Street passes (yes, spooky season is upon us), T-Shirts, and stickers.

Ken Chan Ramen is a beautiful space that's perfect for a date, a client meeting, or just when you want a relaxed, yet upscale environment. But don't let the look of the restaurant intimidate you- the prices are absolutely affordable for the quality and portion sizes of these carefully and expertly made dishes and small bites. Beer, wine, and a variety of sake are available, too. Sake can be a bit of an acquired taste for Western tongues, but I really enjoy it.
