A Lubbock man that survived being shot in the head on Tuesday, November 30th, told police that he and the suspected shooter had "street beef."

Officers responded to the shooting just before 11 a.m. at the Executive Inn, located at 4401 Avenue Q. The owner of the hotel showed police surveillance footage that depicted the victim, 38-year-old Joe Sanchez, walking northbound in the 4400 block of Avenue Q with his girlfriend.

KAMC News reports that the couple reached the parking lot of Crest Tires, and a brief altercation took place between Sanchez and the suspect. It's said the suspect shot Sanchez before running northbound towards 43rd Street. Sanchez's girlfriend ran from the scene before police could arrive.

The responding officer went to University Medical Center to find Sanchez with a wound over his right eye and on the top right side of his head.

Sanchez apparently wasn't able to give the officer much information, but was able to tell them that the suspect had dated his girlfriend before.

So far, the suspect has not been arrested. They also have not been publicly identified.
