In a town where no one knows how to drive, it's going to be harder to drive.

You are welcome to feel however you feel about the Mayors Marathon this weekend. I'm not here to discuss its merits; I'm here to warn you to STAY OFF THE STREETS OF DEATH THIS SUNDAY.

One side of The Loop will be closed for part of this Sunday (April 22). Right now, the electronic signs are saying from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will also be numerous detours and distractions. Any route that you might plan to get you where you're going will have a GPS trail that will look like a plate of spaghetti.

I'm still not 100 percent sure I understand how all of this works, but from the website it says the start time is 7:30 a.m. at the Berl Huffman Complex. I would think that start time would put runners still on the course during the prime church-going time.

I'm sure someone smarter than me has this all figured out, but half The Loop closed is still half of a highway that almost all of us use every single day of the week. Just check for alternative routes if you have to go anywhere this Sunday.
