According to Everything Lubbock, Tiny Tots U Learning Academy, located at 13706 University Ave in Lubbock, reported "several confirmed" measles cases to the Lubbock health department after they learned that those children were sickened with the disease.

The sickened children were unvaccinated or had not completed their MMR vaccine schedule.

Tiny Tots U has responded by sending all unvaccinated children home, and are those children are "excluded from care" for 21 days, regardless of the parents' reasoning for not vaccinating their child- be it religious, health concerns, or otherwise.

The center reports it is working closely with the health department to mitigate the outbreak as much as possible.

The CDC has reported that as of today (April 4th, 2025), there are a total of 607 confirmed measles cases in 22 states, including Texas. Measles hospitalizations have primarily been in children under 5 years old.

So far, there has been one confirmed death of a school-aged child in Texas, and one death in New Mexico is under investigation. Neither individual had been vaccinated.

Additionally, West Texas hospitals are warning parents against administering too many doses of Vitamin A or cod liver oil, as some children have been hospitalized with Vitamin A toxicity, which can lead to liver dysfunction and other serious symptoms.

Additionally, health professionals warn that Vitamin A is not a substitute for the MMR vaccine.
